2025 Lockport Summer Youth Recreational Program

Description:

For many years, the City Summer Youth program was coordinated in neighborhood parks by a city-based
Youth Bureau, up until 2014. Since that time, summer activities have been organized by part-time hires
and youth to deliver services to include the Niagara County Meal Program through the Youth Bureau.
This year, the program will be coordinated by three local services agencies who have a longstanding
history in delivering high-quality programs for the community. We are happy to share that The Kenan
Center, YWCA of Niagara, and Niagara County Youth Mentoring Services will be handling the
activities and support for this year starting Monday, June 30th and running until Friday, August 22nd for
children and families.

Programs and activities will run exclusively out of Willow Altro Park beginning at 9am until 2pm with
meals provided for breakfast and lunch. Local community groups will be integrated for pop-up activities
and programs that run from soccer and STEM to flag football, and youth development. Registration will
be required and more details on signing up will be shared through the Lockport School District Peach Jar
portal and through social media and website outlets.

For questions or more details, please contact Dr. John Craig, 1st Ward Alderman at
Ward1@lockportny.gov. A complete schedule should be ready to share by June 16th, 2-weeks before the
start of the summer program.
